Shady Billing Practices - Basic Cable A La Cart HBO
My normal cable internet bill is ~$120/mo. Now, I add HBO for Game of Thrones season for a promo of $10 per month and my bill suddenly goes up to $165/mo. How does $120 $10 = $165?
Here is what the billing agent said when I called them this morning:
"You were getting a $20 credit for a promo and it just ended. There was also a partial month charge for HBO (for 6 days which amounts to $2 extra)."
By her muddy explanation, this "Video/HSD Discount" credit that I was getting would have my normal bill at $140/mo. normally. I've never had my bill that high and I could scarcely believe their basic cable package cost is $90/mo. That's just ridiculous.
Then I ask about this "sports surcharge" of $3/mo. that is on all my bills. This is good... this is really good:
"That's our surcharge to customers for normal channels that may broadcast sports events."
Whuuuuut???? Ok, that's just shady in every possible way. I'm not paying for a sports package. I don't like sports. And I most certainly don't watch sports. But I'm going to get charged for channels that I'm _already_ paying for that may or may not broadcast sports? Sounds like CableOne just lost another customer.
